Judy Robison is a research adviser with the Research Design Service South Central.  She has a professional background in social work and extensive research experience in heath and social care, gained in both academic and practice settings.

Judy began her research career with Hampshire Social Services Department conducting studies commissioned by managers to inform policy and practice. Since joining the University of Southampton in 1992 Judy has worked on research projects in the Institute for Health Policy Studies, the School of Social Sciences and, most recently, in the Stroke Association Rehabilitation Research Centre based in the School of Health Sciences.   There, she was research fellow for a three year qualitative longitudinal study exploring the personal experience of stroke and recovery through a series of interviews with patients and carers.

Judy’s expertise is in qualitative research methods and her interests are exploring the perspectives of patients and carers, especially older people, in relation to managing health, chronic illness and disability and  their experience of health and social care services.  In addition to working with the RDS she currently has a part time post as qualitative researcher on a study involving older people in the Nutrition Diet and Lifestyle BRU.
