Julie Parkes is a HEFCE Clinical Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Southampton and provides epidemiology support to the RDS.

After qualifying from Oxford she trained at Northwick Park Hospital as a GP spending 10 years as a principal in general practice. She then trained in Public Health in Wessex and following an award of an MRC Training Fellowship obtained a PhD in diagnostic tests in liver disease. Her main interests are prognostic and diagnostic tests, liver disease epidemiology and health of vulnerable groups- in particular Offenders.
