When submitting a request for funding to the NIHR it is essential that it has been correctly costed.
Funding committees look at the value for money of all proposals and may reject studies which they deem to be ‘too expensive’. Equally if any areas of your study have not been adequately costed then your research will run into trouble as securing additional funding is often impossible.
Project costing is normally carried out by the R&D department of your NHS trust, but it is essential that you have considered all relevant areas for your protocol as this can have a huge impact on your study.
There are a number of links on the right hand side which will help you to assess the various costs that you will need to take into account when costing your research proposal.
